Rosie & Jim have donated €50 to Cancer Fund for Children.

Cancer Fund for Children was founded in 1973 by Margaret McAlpine MBE, a teacher who had been recruited to provide continuity to children’s education whilst they were receiving treatment on the wards at Belvoir Park Hospital in Belfast, following a diagnosis of cancer.

Over the next ten years, Margaret recruited a range of volunteers, including consultant oncologist Dr George Edelstein, to form a Charity Board to help deliver a range of practical and financial support to families.

This developed into residential support with the purchase of Shimna Valley House in Co Down in 1996.  Aided by funds from the National Lottery, and opened by local celebrity Patrick Kielty, Cancer Fund for Children’s Shimna Valley House offered families nursing a sick child a place of tranquillity, far removed from the stress of the hospital wards – and was the fore-runner of the unique Daisy Lodge, which was opened in 2014 and stands on the same site today.

"We understand the devastating impact a cancer diagnosis and its treatment has and are here to support the whole family so they don’t have to face cancer alone."

We were delighted to donate €200 to the Ennis Sub Aqua Club for their annual St Stephen's Day fin swim in the River Fergus, Ennis.

Well done to all involved in this great cause - we hope the water wasn't too cold!

Read the lovely letter from Ennis Sub Aqua Club below.

Dear Rosie & Jim

On behalf of Ennis Sub Aqua Club Search & Recovery, please allow me to extend our thanks for your generous contribution of €200 to support our annual St. Stephens Day fin swim in the River Fergus, Ennis.

Ennis Sub Aqua Club Volunteers provide underwater Search and Recovery services throughout the county of Clare and provide assistance further afield if needed. We are the official team called out by Clare Civil Defence for inland searches and one of a small number of teams assisting the Coast Guard for searches on and around the coastline. Unfortunately our services are frequently in demand. This can be a very traumatic time for friends and family.

Your generousity will allow us to enable more divers to be trained to assist in this service over the coming year.

Many thanks
Yours sincerely

Jorg Gerlach

Rosie & Jim have donated €3,000 to a Turkey NGO for the Earthquake Crises Appeal.

Our thoughts and hearts are with everyone affected by this earthquake. heart

Rosie & Jim are pleased to donate £100 to Eamon McCay, Managing Director of Frylite, one of our suppliers, as he marks World Homeless Day by sleeping out overnight in Strabane .

Mr McCay writes...

...on Saturday 13th October, I'm marking World Homeless Day by sleeping out overnight in Strabane. By doing this, I hope to raise awareness of homelessness and much needed funds for our chosen charities throughout Ireland.

Almost 10,000 people described themselves as homeless in Ireland this year. That includes men, women, couples and families. These are staggering figures, but the most important message is that we can all help.

You don't have to sleep out to help. €15 feeds a whole family for 2 days. £50 helps parents to learn new skills that will help them work their way out of homelessness while meeting their children's needs.

£100 helps keep families safe and warm during the cold winter months when the heating needs to be turned up for babies and children.

Best of luck to all taking part in this fundraising event.

You can donate to this most dererving cause by visiting the Frylite GoFundMe Page at www.gofundme.com/frylite-celebrating-30years.

Respite care - Rosie & Jim Chicken ProductsRespite care is the very heart of what we do here at LauraLynn. It is not a luxury, but a necessity for both the caregivers and the sick child.

Caring for a seriously ill child puts immense physical and emotional strain on the whole family. Through our respite care, families have the opportunity to take a break, while we care for their sick child. Our multi-disciplinary team provides children with full medical support, as well as a variety of therapies to enhance their care.

We are able to offer families choices, providing on-going support for as long as they choose.

Providing a nights respite to a child is an invaluable gift to the child and their whole family and Rosie & Jim have donated to support 5 overnight stays for a child.

Rosie & Jim are delighted to donate €200 to the Annual Mayfield GAA Golf Classic fundraising event.

This annual event was raising money for the running costs of the club.

Thanks to Kathy, Champ's minder for taking these wonderful photos of Champ. He had the company of another puppy, Orbit, in training recently. How cute are they together?!

His training going very well.  He is excellent in the house apart from waking up too early! He is walking very well, stops a bit to check things out but quickly continues on.  His recall is very good.

He is growing into a fine handsome dog and loves his free runs away from the training.

Rosie & Jim are thrilled to have donated €4,500 to fund a sensory bedroom for a Make-A-Wish child and make a wish come true. A sensory bedroom has made a huge difference to wish child Donal who is living with Sensory Modulation Disorder. His condition means that his nervous system needs intense input and he craves busy, stimulating environments, touches and brings everything to his mouth and has a poor attention span. A multi-sensory room has provided him with a fun and safe atmosphere to explore and develop.

Donal’s mother got in touch to thank us and you for making his wish come true. She said:

“We designed Donal’s room around an area in the hope that the wish would be granted. We are so happy with it as it’s Donal’s own area/pad/den & it’s perfect for him. Donal gets physio each week and it’s also a great spot for this – the padded floor is excellent. Donal enjoys himself, watching his favourite music videos – his smile will tell you more than any words!!! It’s been great seeing Donal quickly learn that this comfy den his. He can shuffle to it from anywhere downstairs and he just has to look up at the projector to tell us that he wants it on. His posture is very good when he’s on his beanbag as his spine is really straight. In fact, it’s one of the very few times that Donal has a relatively straight back.”

"Your support has made a really powerful difference in Donal’s life and for that we are truly grateful. Keep up the good work and thank you from everyone at Make-A-Wish Ireland." says Irene from Make-A-Wish Ireland.
