What lovely heartfelt letter we have received from the Cuisle Cancer Support Centre. And well done again to Margaret on the right in the photo above who ran the ladies mini marathon in aid of the centre. The Cuisle Cancer Support Centre is a fantastic service with fantastic people who have made a huge difference to families lives and we are happy and humbled to be able to donate.

Dear Rosie & Jim

Thank you so much for your kind donation of €300 to the Cuisle Cancer Support Centre. Also thank you to Margaret who ran the ladies mini marathon in aid of the centre. Your kindness & generosity are very much appreciated.

The Cuisle Cancer Support Centre is a local charity servicing Laois/Kildare and surrounding counties. It provides a warm, safe and welcoming environment for people diagnosed with cancer and for their families and children affected by it.

The centre provides professional support through counselling, relaxation therapies and workshops helping people through their cancer journey. The aim of the centre is to reduce the distressing impact cancer can have on any family. We offer practical and emotional support. A care programme is tailored to each individual’s needs.

The centre has been built from the proceeds of fundraising events over the past number of years, and it has been your support, and the support of so many that has continued to make the centre a special place for people affected by Cancer. All our services are provided free of charge.

The Centre is operated under a voluntary board of trustees who govern the overall operation of the centre and do not receive any remuneration or expenses.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Staff in the Cuisle Cancer Support Centre I would once again thank you for your support.

The amazing work the St. Vincent de Paul charity do in our communities is well known. Although on hand to help all year round, Christmas time is especially difficult for those who reach out to SVP for support.
Rosie & Jim were happy to be able to make a donation of €1000 at Christmas and humbled by this lovely letter of thanks sent in reply from the National President.

"...Your kindness and generosity will make such a difference to those in need in your community this Christmas.
You will be there to help them falling into poverty and crises. You will be there to put food on their table. You will be there to heat their homes. You will be there to put presents under the Christmas tree.
You will be there just as they need you.

Thank you with all my heart for your thoughtful donation of €1,000.00 to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
A little help at the right time can make all the difference. And your donation today could be just what a family need to help them through this winter..."

Rosie & Jim have made a donation in the amount of €500 to the Irish Cancer Society Night Nurse.

This charity service is so important for cancer patients and their families - especially at Christmas.

Please read through the letter from the Irish Cancer Society and donate if you can...

My name is Hilary, and I work as a Night Nurse for the Irish Cancer Society. For me, learning that this is many people’s last wish has been incredibly powerful. Because it shows how in the most emotional and heart-breaking of times, the things that comfort us most are those small, precious moments. Like hearing grandchildren laughing in the next room. The chance to have important conversations. The cosiest blanket. A window cracked open to hear the birds in the morning. Loved ones checking in, holding your hand, wrapping you up in warmth and love. Right now, you can help a family have their loved one at home during those final precious days, by providing them with a Night Nurse. I can't picture a more beautiful, moving or important Christmas gift.

Rosie & Jim sponsored €750 for the The Ronald McDonald House Charities cycling jersey.

They were planning an annual cycle around Blessington Lakes on April 25th but this fundraising event sadly had to be cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions. So they have come up with a new plan - for May!

Cycle 60km during the month of May, in your own area and when suits you to help continue to care for our families at this unique time. It costs us €60.00 per night per family, and by registering you will be providing a family a home for the night when they need it the most.  Register online on Giv2Go for €60.00. Receive the bespoke Ronald McDonald cycle jersey. Keep one family close to their seriously sick child for one night. Cycle apart and come together for Ronald McDonald House.

Find out more about this on the RMHC website - https://rmhc.ie/events/charity-cycle4families-2020/

This is a hugely important fundraiser as they continue to raise funds for their New House alongside the New Children’s Hospital.

Check out the fab jerseys with Rosie & Jim logo! We're sure they'll get plenty of use once the restrictions are lifted :)

About Ronald McDonald House Charities

The Ronald McDonald House provides accommodation care and support for 20 families every night while their seriously ill children are inpatient or receiving care in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital.

The House enables families to stay together so that they can be with their sick child at what is a very traumatic time for them all.

The first,16 bedroom, Ronald McDonald House is situated on the grounds of Our Lady’s Hospital and our smaller 4 bedroom House is directly across the road at St Mary’s Drive.

Many families travel far from home to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children. Often, it can be a long time to be away from home, or to divide a family. For children facing a serious medical crisis, nothing seems scarier than not having their mum and dad close by for love and support.  Ronald McDonald House program provides a Home for families so they can stay close by their hospitalised child at very little cost.  The House works on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on healing their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest.
